CHRIS JANSON REVELS IN RAVE REVIEWS, ANOTHER MILESTONE WEEKEND AT CMA MUSIC FEST
    • 06.13.16

NASHVILLE, TN – (June 13, 2016) – Chris Janson is known as an electrifying live performer, guitarist and harmonica extraordinaire who wins fans every time he takes the stage. Janson was wow-ing fans again this weekend at the CMA Music Festival in downtown Nashville. Presented with one of the largest crowds of his career while appearing in front of a capacity crowd at Nissan Stadium, Janson drew rave reviews for his performance of his award winning hit “Buy Me a Boat” and appearance with Hank Williams Jr.

“Janson did more with one song than many people mustered in an entire set,” The Tennessean raved in a review of Friday evening’s events. “Janson walked onstage and said: ‘I wanna see you on your feet, baby!’ Less than a minute into his breakthrough hit ‘Buy Me a Boat,’ the audience was singing along so loudly their voices were streaming through the speakers. The crowd lit up the stadium with their cell phones and when Janson broke into a blistering harmonica solo fans cheered even louder.”

“It was definitely a dream come true playing the stadium this year,” Janson said. “To have that many country music fans in one place is awesome. Seeing all those cell phones light up on ‘Buy me a Boat’ was killer. Coming back out with Hank Jr. was icing on the cake.”

It was Janson’s first appearance at Nissan Stadium where more than 50,000 fans gather each night during the four-day festival. He also appeared in front of a record capacity crowd at Riverfront Stage earlier in the day Friday.

Rolling Stone thought it was a special moment, including the appearance as one of the best performances of the CMA Music Festival under the headline “Best Country Punk”: “By the time Chris Janson got to his year-defining Number One ‘Buy Me a Boat,’ he had the Riverfront audience eating out of his hand — and even flapping their arms like eagles. So he knew they'd follow him anywhere when halfway through his final song ‘Truck Yeah,’ which he co-wrote for Tim McGraw, he called a punk-rock audible. Wildly strumming his Fender electric, he nodded at his band, and launched into Social Distortion's revved-up version of (Johnny) Cash's ‘Ring of Fire.’ ‘Boat’ may have been the singalong moment of Janson's set, but it was him revealing his punk roots that put the whole thing over the top.”

The Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music Nashville star also is getting exposure in Music City in an unexpected way. Memorabilia from his platinum hit “Buy Me a Boat” from his heralded 2015 debut album of the same name has been included in the ACM Gallery at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum.

“Being included in the Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit is a huge surprise,” Janson said. “I'm humbled and thrilled to be recognized.”

Now that the festival is over, it’s back to regular programming for Janson, whose new single “Holdin’ Her” continues to climb the charts and draw raves from fellow artists, like Vince Gill, who says it’s the Song of the Year. He’s also got scores more dates on his Buy Me a Boat Tour, which continues across the nation through the summer with dates this week in the Midwest.
