CHRIS JANSON EXCITED TO SEND FAVORITE SONG “HOLDIN’ HER” TO RADIO
    04.06.16

Chris Janson is celebrating great news on the awards show front – his first career win and another high-profile nomination - and prepping new music for Country Radio, selecting “Holdin’ Her” as his new single.

Janson learned Wednesday that he’s been nominated for Breakthrough Male of the Year at the American Country Countdown Awards, which air live Sunday, May 1, from Los Angeles on Fox.

"Any time I get recognized for my music, I feel a great sense of humility,” Janson said. “I'm grateful to find out that I'm nominated for Breakthrough Male of the Year. This is awesome."

Fans by then should be well-acquainted with “Holdin’ Her,” the third cut from Janson’s life-changing Buy Me a Boat album. The romantic love song showcases Janson’s voice and guitar virtuosity. It’s written for an audience of one, but at the same time is universal and might fit right in on a classic country playlist.

"'Holdin' Her' is my favorite song - my No. 1 favorite,” Janson said. “It's an absolute true story, from start to finish. It's the story of the things that I love most: my wife and my kids and my journey in life. If anyone wants a real look inside my life, here it is. Out of all the songs I've ever written, 'Holdin' Her' is the one song that I have always wanted to hear on the radio. Having it as my single makes me smile. This song took on a life of its own, and the way that it connects with people is undeniable."

The release of “Holdin’ Her” to Radio later this month is another milestone development in a 12-month period that’s been full of them since Janson signed with Warner in March 2015. The platinum-selling, chart-topping escapist masterpiece “Buy Me a Boat” started that run and is still accruing accolades, taking Country Song of the Year at the iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles. He was simultaneously up for three awards at the Academy of Country Music in Las Vegas, and continued his many charitable appearances at the ACM Party For a Cause Festival on Saturday.

Janson also helped out the Academy’s charitable foundation when it teamed with the COPD Foundation on the Harmonicas for Health initiative, appearing at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the first facility to test the pulmonary care program. Janson shared with participants how playing the harmonica helped him overcome childhood breathing problems that had followed him into adulthood. Now, he’s able to perform for 90 minutes or more a night with no issues.

Janson recently appeared on CONAN where he performed “Buy Me a Boat” and recently wrapped his winter run on the road with Blake Shelton as part of his 2016 Tour presented by Gildan, which played to sold out crowds around the country, including a two-night stand in Nashville. So far, 2016 has been just as incredible as 2015, when he landed on multiple year-end lists, including Billboard's Top New Country Artist list, Rolling Stone Country’s Best list for his full-length debut and The New York Times Best Songs of 2015 for “Buy Me a Boat.”

He was chosen as a 2016 Next Big Thing by MusicRow and, adding to the industry recognition, received standing ovations for his electric performance at the prestigious New Faces Concert during Country Radio Seminar. Acclaimed for his spirited harmonica playing and riveting live show, Janson has played the Grand Ole Opry more than 130 times and earned spots on tour with Blake Shelton, Toby Keith and Luke Bryan.
